Carson City Parks and Rec leads Interpretive Holiday Hike; next hike on Jan. 5
This past Saturday, the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department held an interpretive Holiday Hike. Wrapping up the Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch’s Holiday Open House, our group of about 20 hikers ventured out and explored parts of the Mexican Ditch and River Trails.
Folks learned about the history of Silver Saddle Ranch, the importance of snow cover, tree dormancy, and the Carson River Watershed! I want to thank the Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch for putting together refreshments, snacks, and a chance for Carsonites to celebrate the holidays at one of our beautiful open spaces.
Our next Interpretive Hike is on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m.
Come out to Riverview Park for this Winter Wonderland Walk to learn about hibernation, migration, climate, and how snowflakes form!
This will be a hike for all ages, but make sure to bundle up!
