A Baltimore Ravens player with ties to the area stepped in to help a West Palm Beach grandmother.

Delores Allen, 69, still lies in a hospital bed after investigators say her own grandson brutally assaulted her, then set her house on fire earlier this month.

“I was just like compelled to reach out,” said Willie Snead IV, a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens.

The part-time Palm Beach County resident has never met Allen, who is still in the ICU at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

“I heard about the story of the family losing their home to a fire and I saw the GoFundMe up," Snead said.

He donated $1,000 on the site and wrote, "Loving on a neighbor. God Bless!"

“I encourage everybody to help somebody out. Whether it’s somebody on the street, somebody you know, or somebody needing a dollar outside of an iHop needing to feed their family. It’s the little things, those little things go a long way," Snead said.

Investigators arrested 26-year-old Trevonte Adderly in connection with the residential house fire on Shelley Road South July 5.

He is behind bars on arson and attempted murder charges.

His brother, Travon Adderly, says he his 69-year-old was brutally assaulted with some sort of object, but did not confirm what it was.

Trevonte Adderly has been struggling with a mental illness after the unimaginable, according to Travon.

“In 1997, my dad actually killed my mother. There’s three of us, and we were there,” he said.

Right now, Travon Adderly is relying on his faith to rise above the most recent incident. He says the community’s support helps.

“It makes me feel really excited that someone from of that status would even think to help my family,” he said. “More importantly, the folks that have contributed even $5, we really, really appreciate it.”

“I know it’s a huge thing to lose home like that, I can only imagine what they’re going through," Snead said. "I know through faith and perseverance, we can all overcome any obstacles."

Adderly says his grandmother is showing positive signs of recovery as on Monday night.

There is a GoFundMe account set up to help the family with lodging, food and medical fees.

The community may also make contributions at any TD Bank location under the Delores and Emmanuel Allen Fund.
