The Austin Police Department has a subject in custody following a SWAT call in northeast Austin on Sunday.

Law enforcement was dispatched to 14233 The Lakes Boulevard at around 10:48 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a family violence incident.

The caller said her boyfriend threatened to kill her. Police say she described being held hostage with a gun to her head for two hours. The subject reportedly told the victim he would get into a "shootout" if the police were called.

The victim was able to escape after two hours, that's when police arrived to the scene.

Officers talked to the subject through the front door, but he refused to come out. Officials evacuated residents in the apartment complex, set up a perimeter and requested the SWAT team since he was barricaded and armed.

The SWAT team was able to enter the residence using distraction devices, they came to a peaceful resolution with the subject.

No officers and the subject were not harmed during the event and no shots were fired.

The victim told police that her boyfriend was using drugs and alcohol at the time of the incident.
