Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson will remain hospitalized Sunday night after doctors found a small blood clot in his lung during a checkup.

Johnson has been at Rush University Medical Center since Friday when he took his annual stress test, CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

When asked Sunday if Johnson was due to be released, Guglielmi said, “Not yet, likely one more night.”

“While the stress test results were normal, doctors at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center found a small blood clot in his lung which will be treated with medication and rest,” Guglielmi said Friday in a statement, adding that Johnson would spend the night at Rush for observation.

In August 2017, Johnson underwent kidney transplant surgery at Rush. His son Daniel — now an officer in the Gresham District on the South Side — was the donor.
