Man fatally shot in Gresham: police

The 29-year-old was found with gunshot wounds after police responded to a ShotSpotter alert.

A man was shot June 15, 2020, near Hegewisch on the Far South Side. — He was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

A 29-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday in Gresham on the South Side.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 4:11 a.m. and found Christopher Walton in the 7700 block of South Morgan Street near a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the chest, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. An autopsy conducted Sunday ruled his death a homicide by multiple gunshot wounds.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
