Man wanted for attacking pregnant woman on Red Line

Police are searching for a man who allegedly struck a pregnant woman on a CTA Red Line train Wednesday night on the North Side.

The man approached a 25-year-old woman on a train, swore at her and repeatedly struck her in the head and body, Chicago police said in a statement.

The man briefly exited the train at the Addison station at 11 p.m., but then re-entered the train and continued to assault the woman before fleeing, police said.

Community activist Andrew Holmes said the woman was pregnant. Holmes planned to pass out fliers with photos of the suspect at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Red Line Addison station.

Anyone with information about the man was asked to call detectives at (312) 744-8261.
