CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The second annual Turkeys for Troops will take place Saturday, November 23 in downtown Clarksville. The event began in 2018 as a way to give back to Fort Campbell families, by providing them with a free turkey for Thanksgiving. In it’s second year, the event has grown with over 1,500 turkeys available for soldiers this year.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., active duty Fort Campbell soldier with a valid military ID can come to James Corlew Chevrolet in downtown Clarksville. After presenting their photo ID, soldiers will be provided one free frozen turkey. All active duty, veterans and spouses can get a turkey.

The event will run from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or until the turkeys run out. Austin Peay’s baseball and softball teams will be on hand volunteering and handing out the turkeys.

The event is sponsored by F&M Bank, James Corlew Chevrolet, LifePoint Church, and 5 Star Media Group. Walmart has provided the turkey and Ajax Distributing will donate a two-liter soda as well.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and support these Fort Campbell families,” said Charlie Koon, director of corporate and military development for F&M Bank. “We’re proud to partner with these businesses and organizations in Clarksville and hope to grow the event each year.”
