The Oakland Raiders have been named in a lawsuit claiming a company wasn't paid for their work building the team's new stadium in Las Vegas. According to Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, ADP International has named multiple different partners in the suit that is looking for a payout of $2.8 million.

Included in the suit are the Raiders, the Las Vegas Stadium Events Co., the Las Vegas Stadium Authority, general contractor Mortenson-McCarthy, Merrill Iron & Steel and others.

According to Don Webb, who is overseeing the stadium operation, even though there are a lot of different companies are named, it's actually between Merrill Iron & Steel and ADP only.

“This is a lawsuit concerning a dispute over payments claimed to be owed by a second-tier subcontractor to third-tier supplier,” Webb told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It does not involve any claims concerning payments made or owed by the Raiders, [the Stadium Events Company] or the Stadium Authority.”

If Webb's comments are true even though everyone has to be named in the suit, the Raiders really don't have much to do with this, besides it being their stadium that is built.

“The contracts associated with the work performed by the plaintiff require Mortenson-McCarthy and its subcontractors to fully indemnify the Raiders, StadCo and the Stadium Authority against such disputes,” he said. “Therefore no project funds or public money whatsoever are in jeopardy as a result of this dispute.”

Even though the Raiders aren't involved, this seems like a very serious issue for Merrill Iron & Steel.
