Minnesota Timberwolves stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Robert Covington is ready to start working with rookie teammate Jarrett Culver.

Towns and Covington took to Twitter to welcome Culver. The former Texas Tech standout was selected sixth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday. Minnesota had to give up Dario Saric and their 11th pick to secure the sixth pick of the Phoenix Suns, which they eventually used to draft Culver.

Towns expressed confidence that their team made a great decision in selecting Culver.

On the other hand, Covington welcomed his rookie teammate to the Timberwolves family. However, he immediately sent a stern warning to the 20-year-old guard, saying that he will be on Culver's head on defense all-season long.

Timberwolves president Gersson Rosas also had nothing but praises for their new recruit. Rosas confirmed that they had to make moves to move up in the draft because they were really targeting the Lubbock, Texas native. Rosas feels that Culver will bring improvement to their defense.

“We do need to improve our defense, and that starts by me helping the program with getting personnel in here,” Rosas said via Chris Hine of the Star Tribune. “Our personnel staff did a great job of identifying targets.”

Culver played two seasons with Texas Tech, where he averaged 18.5 points on top of 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his sophomore year. Heading into the draft, the 6-foot-5 guard is considered as the second-best two-way player in the draft next to first overall pick Zion Williamson.
