Editor’s Note: This is a map of the active coronavirus cases in each county across Wyoming. The number of active cases is determined by subtracting the total number of recoveries seen since the illness first reached Wyoming in mid-March from the total number of confirmed and probable cases diagnosed during the same time period and taking into account deaths related to the disease.

The number of active laboratory-confirmed and probable coronavirus cases increased by 12 on Sunday as the number of new cases went up by 29 and the number of recoveries seen since the pandemic began went up by 17.

The Wyoming Department of Health, in its daily coronavirus update, said eight counties reported 29 new confirmed coronavirus cases: Carbon, Fremont, Laramie, Natrona, Sheridan, Sublette, Sweetwater and Teton. Fremont County saw the largest increase at five.

The increase, along with eight new probable cases, forced the number of active cases in the state up by 12 to 569.

Laramie County had 111 active cases; Fremont County had 91; Teton County had 69; Sweetwater County had 43; Carbon had 42; Uinta had 37; Lincoln had 36; Park had 32; Albany had 30; Natrona had 28; Campbell had 16; Sublette had 14; Big Horn had five; Sheridan and Washakie had four; Hot Springs had three; Converse had two, and Goshen and Platte had one.

Crook, Johnson, Niobrara and Weston counties continued to be free of active cases.

Active cases are determined by adding the total confirmed and probable coronavirus cases diagnosed since the illness first surfaced in Wyoming on March 12, subtracting the number of recoveries during the same period among patients with both confirmed and probable cases and taking into account the number of deaths attributed to the illness.

The active cases included 468 among people with laboratory-confirmed coronavirus and 101 among people with probable cases.

A probable case is defined as one where the patient has coronavirus symptoms and has been in contact with someone with a confirmed case, but has not been tested for the illness. The total number of probable cases seen since mid-March was 446 as of Sunday.

The number of people to have recovered from coronavirus since it was first diagnosed in the state in mid-March grew by 17 on Sunday to total 1,883, including 1,538 recoveries among patients with confirmed cases and 345 among those with probable cases.

The total number of coronavirus cases seen since the pandemic began totaled 2,475 Sunday, including 2,029 confirmed cases and 446 probable cases.
