The key north-south route had been closed for bridge construction and made commutes to the employment centers, such as Stanton-Christiana, more difficult.
The Delaware Department of Transportation did alter closing-construction dates for projects in the area after requests and objections from residents.
At one point, both the north-south Red Mill and Harmony roads were to have been closed at the same time.
DelDOT has launched an aggressive construction program to deal with intersection improvements and aging bridges throughout the state.
