Amanda Nunes defending her featherweight championship against Felicia Spencer in the main event on June 6th at UFC’s first PPV in Las Vegas since before the pandemic shut things down. UFC 250 gets underway this Saturday at 6 p.m. ET with the preliminary card starting just after 6 p.m. on ESPN. The main card will air on ESPN+ as a PPV.
The first fight on the preliminary card is a middleweight bout between Charles Byrd and Maki Pitolo. Both fighters are coming into this one off a loss. Byrd is favored at -177.
Byrd is 10-6 and has lost two straight fights, both by TKO at UFC PPVs. Edmen Shahbazyan stopped him in the first round of UFC 235 in March 2019, and Darren Stewart stopped him in the second round of UFC 228 in September 2018. He’s now 1-2 in UFC, having won his debut in March 2018 over John Phillips via rear-naked choke submission.
Pitolo is 12-5 and coming off a unanimous decision loss in his UFC debut to Callan Potter at UFC 243 in October 2019. Prior to that he beat Justin Michael Sumter via TKO at Dana White’s Contender Series, and his two wins previously were via submission at Bellator 213 over Chris Cisneros and at CFFC 68 with a knockout of Thiago Rela.
