Troopers Arrest Student For Possession of a Firearm-Camden

Camden–  The Delaware State Police have arrested 15-year-old Dakarae Piazza of Magnolia, after he was found in possession of a handgun while on school property.

The incident occurred on January 21, 2020 at approximately 10:10 a.m., at the Caesar Rodney High School, located at 239 Old North Road, Camden.  Piazza was contacted by the School Administrators due to an unrelated school policy violation, when he advised them that he was in possession of a handgun.  The School Administrators immediately contacted the School Resource Officer.

A search of Piazza’s backpack led to the discovery of an unloaded 9mm Glock handgun.  Additionally, a fully loaded magazine was located on Piazza’s person.

Piazza was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon A Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone

Piazza was arraigned before the Kent County Family Court and released on unsecured bond to a guardian.
