Ao Senden demands returnees to be send back to Kohima

Following detection of Covid-19 positive case from a Chennai returnee in Tuensang, the Ao Senden on Wednesday stated that all the Chennai returnees, who have been sent to their respective districts without confirmation of the test results, should be called back immediately.

“They should be immediately called back to Kohima,” the Ao Senden said.
Altogether, 19 Chennai special train returnees reached Mokokchung from Kohima at around 5 pm on May 25. According to report, their samples were taken but were sent off and are awaiting for the results in a limbo in the quarantined centres whether it would come positive or negative.

Interacting with the media persons at Ao Senden president’s chamber, they questioned as to why the Chennai special train returnees where send to their respective districts without confirming the results after samples were collected.

In this connection, they said that more than 60 days of efforts and resources put in to prevent the spread of the contagious virus has been compromised because of this loophole. The Senden also asserted that error judgment should be rectified and the concerned persons should be deal with relevant section of the law.

A memorandum issued by the principal director of Health and Family Welfare department Dr. Vizolie Z Suokrie on May 25 stated that all inbound travellers coming to Nagaland whether for official purpose or otherwise should mandatorily under screening and get tested for Covid-19 on the first day of arrival. The SOP should be applied to everyone without exception, it stated.

Among the 19 Chennai special train returnees, one is a cancer patient and one each from Kolkata and Agra. The cancer patient along with along two assistants are kept at IMDH isolation ward while the remaining returnees were kept at Nathan Memorial Boys hostel in Fazl Ali College campus.
EAC Sentilong informed that the district is excepting 15-20 returnees from Haryana within this week.

Tia Mollier said that currently, there are 127 persons in various institutional quarantine centres in the district adding the first batch would complete their quarantine period on June 1 followed by 14-day home quarantine.
Dr. Kibang, deputy CMO Mokokchung, also informed that 50 samples were collected at the quarantine centres and send to Dibrugarh in Assam and another 7 samples were tested in Truenat Test machine here in IMDH.

He also informed only a doctor is assigned to supervise 10 quarantine centres as per government order. He added that doctor and nurses at the quarantine centres are not allowed close contact with the inmates but only through telephonic contact to provide help to the inmates.
