Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru addresses the CMO and NHM staff during his visit to CMO office in Dimapur on May 7.

Dimapur, May 9 (EMN): The National Health Mission (NHM) director, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, underlined the need of providing essential healthcare services to the public and admitted Dimapur’s vulnerability to diseases.

He urged the staff to continue with immunisation, ANC check-ups, institutional delivery, and VHND in villages where there is no movement restriction. He also requested programme officers to continue providing their services to the public so that there is continuity in treatments.

According to an update received here on Saturday, the mission director visited CMO office, Dimapur and had a meeting with the officers and NHM staff on May 7.

Dr. Medikhru stated that the main issue the department will face is the influx of travellers, mainly Nagas stranded in others states. Dimapur being the first entry point is most vulnerable not only for Covid-19 virus but also for various other diseases.

In this regard, he urged all the healthcare workers to strictly follow the standard operating procedures. A cordial working environment must, therefore, should be developed, work as a team and to work with understanding of each other’s need, he added.

Regarding materials and other medical supplies sent to the district, he informed that more medicines can be brought if required and also to return any sub-standard materials or drugs sent to the district so that it can be returned to the suppliers.

The director urged all the staff to be in their posting places and continue to provide essential services to the public. He added that the medical staff at the periphery will be called on duty to the headquarters as and when the situation demands.

Dr. Kevichusa also visited Covid-19 hospital and interacted with the staff. He urged the healthcare facility to increase isolation ward to ensure that other patients besides Covid-19 cases are taken cared of.
