Bihar’s minister of industries Shyam Rajak on Friday wrote letters to 24 companies, including Hindustan Foods Ltd and Nestle India Ltd, requesting them to invest in the state

In his letter, Rajak highlighted the state as a vast domestic market where most of the manufactured items come from outside and hence incur a huge arbitrage in transport costs.

Referring to Bihar as a “central location in eastern India”, Rajak said the state's location midway between UP and Bengal makes it suitable as a manufacturing base for markets in eastern UP, Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and the Northeast.

He has also pointed out that there is proper availability of power in both – rural and urban areas - of the state.

Rice exporters KRBL Ltd and Chamanlal Setia Ltd, Tasty Bite and Eatables Ltd, Parag Milk Food Ltd, GRM Overseas Ltd, Relaxo Footwear Ltd, Khadim India Ltd and Jain Irrigation System Ltd were among the other companies to which Rajak sent his invitation.

He mentioned that Bihar in recent times has become the base of globally recognized MNCs such as GE & Alstom which have started manufacturing rail engines in the state. Coke and Pepsi are already present and expanding.

He added Bihar has an online Common Application Form (CAF) and single window clearance system in place. “Deemed clearance within 30 days to all investment proposals submitted to the State Promotion Board is guaranteed by Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Act, 2016,” Rajak informed the companies in his letter.

According to the minister , Bihar offers opportunities of growth in the sectors like food processing, FMCG, Healthcare, Agriculture, IT/ITeS. Telecommunication, Oil and Gas, Power, Chemicals, Consumer and Retail etc.

As per the minister, Bihar has the markets, raw material, labour, enabling infrastructure and a sure trajectory of fast growth.

Bihar is at present mapping the skill sets of migrant workers who return to the state and the state's industries department has developed a portal 'Shram Sadhan', which will contain details of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
