SRINAGAR: A day after five CRPF personnel were killed in an attack in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik held a high-level security meeting and reviewed the security arrangement for upcoming Amarnath Yatra as the spot falls on the Yatra route.

Malik said whenever situation is limping towards normalcy in Kashmir and armed forces have the upper hand in the situation, Pakistan instructs to carry out such ‘fidayeen attacks’.

“This was not just any other attack, it was a fidayeen attack. And it is 100% conspiracy of Pakistan as fidayeen attacks happen on its instructions,” said Malik, adding that these attacks won’t impact the government’s resolve to deal with these elements and respond accordingly.

The Yatra will commence from July for 45 days and most of the pilgrims will pass the road where the attack took place. Malik said nobody would be allowed to come anywhere near the yatra buses. “Yesterday the security was not deployed for Yatra, so they were able to strike, but everything will be taken into consideration,” said Malik.

Advisor to the Governor, K Vijay Kumar, who visited the incident spot in Anantnag along with J&K police chief Dilbag Singh, said security agencies will relook and fine -tune the security strategy for the Yatra.

“The attack was repulsed within ten minutes and the attacker was gunned down at a public place where transport movement was also high,” Kumar told reporters Two ASI rank officers and three other CRPF personnel were killed and SHO of Anantnag police station Arshid Khan was seriously injured in the attack on Wednesday afternoon.
