KOLKATA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address three public meetings in West Bengal in ten days, starting from January 28 to February 8.
In a little shift of strategy, Bharatiya Janata Party postponed Prime Minister's mega rally at Brigade ground in Kolkata, scheduled on February 8 and took it to Asanso, one that made headlines during Ram Navami celebrations in 2017-18. The other two rallies will be held on 28th January at Siliguri in North Bengal and another at Thakurnagar near Indo-Bangla border.

Significantly, the Opposition's rally was organised at the Brigade ground in Kolkata on January 19 where at least 25 senior Opposition leaders were present. It was seen as a rare show of Opposition's unity in recent time. According to sources in BJP ranks, the senior leaders said that they would need more time to mobilize people for the mega rally at Brigade ground.

Bengal's BJP president Dilip Ghosh said that the brigade rally would be organised on a later date, though Prime Minister Modi confirmed his dates for rallies in three districts -- Siliguri in North Bengal, Thakurnagar in North 24 Pargana and Asansol in Burdwan district.

BJP's national president Amit Shah will address a public meeting on Tuesday in Malda. On Wednesday, Shah will address two meetings, one in Jhargram and another in Birbhum districts
