Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan asked the Opposition to clear whether they support the state government’s COVID-19 preventive measures. He noted that the situation demands vigilance and everyone should contribute to the government’s efforts to prevent the disease.
He raised a sharp criticism on the Opposition leaders for taking a stand against Kerala.
“A group of leaders in Congress tried to subvert the government’s prevention and resistance activities against COVID-19 community spread and death rate. But the public dismissed all such moves. Even UDF members are not accepting the immature and inhuman stand of Opposition leader and KPCC president. There are disputes in the front over this matter. Hence, the Opposition must clear their stand whether they support the government’s public-friendly projects to prevent COVID-19,” said the CPM leader.
“Kerala has turned a role model for COVID-19 prevention. But the central government had given only limited support for COVID-19 prevention in the state. CPM is planning to hold a state-wide dharna seeking more support from the Centre,” added Kodiyeri.
Meanwhile, he noted that LDF will not intervene in the dispute between Jose K Mani and PJ Joseph factions. LDF in Kerala is a strong political front. LDF will make an alliance with only those who have a similar political ideology. At present, LDF has no plans to include any new member. LDF will not influence or cheat anyone. Both Jose K Mani and PJ Joseph groups are bargaining within UDF. Let them take a stand first. LDF will discuss on the matter later, he explained.
