No central fund for Sabarimala-Pamba development: Union Minister

It has also been decided not to allot additional forest land for the development projects in Sabarimala, the minister replied to the question of MP Kodikkunnil Suresh.

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Babul Supriyo said in the Lok sabha that the Centre has not allowed any fund for development projects in Sabarimala including arrangement of additional facilities for pilgrims.

It has also been decided not to allot additional forest land for development projects in Sabarimala, the minister replied to the question of MP Kodikkunnil Suresh.

According to the Forest (Conservation) Act, 185.89 hectares of forest land was allotted for Sabarimala development in the period between 1986-2006. The land was allotted for various purposes including camping of pilgrims.

The government has not decided to allot forest land in Pamba or to start Pamba action plan, the minister made it clear in the parliament.
