Heavy rain accompanied with lightning and gusty wind is predicted in Lakshadweep and Maldives coasts on May 27 and 28 and on Kerala coast on May 29.
An yellow alert is issued in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode on May 27 and in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode on May 28 and in Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki on May 29.
The meteorological department has assessed that the situation is favourable for the onset of southwest monsoon.
