Water level in Kerala dams highest in 5 years as rains continue unabated

Pathanamthitta: The water level in dams in the state are on the rise. The dams currently have more than double the water as compared to last year. Since the rains continue unabated, the water flow in Idukki and Sabarigiri dams have increased.

As per statistics, there is 25 percent water in all of the dams in the state. Idukki has the maximum water and so the flow of water is also extremely high. There is enough water in state to generate 1040 million units of power. Last year, there was only enough water to generate 605 million units of power.

There is 35 percent water in Idukki, meanwhile there is only 12 percent water in Sabarigiri. The water level in Sabarigiri was reduced as works to strengthen the Anathodu dam was going on.

Also, there has been a reduction in power consumption in the state due to heavy rains. Only 66 million units of power was consumed the other day in the state.
