Portland homes for sale with the deepest price cuts

Wise homebuyers look for discounts on properties they value. What causes a sale price to cascade? An anxious seller or an asking price that's too high and no one's biting.

In this week's real estate gallery, we look at 15 Portland homes that have undergone a price cut or two.

What can that save you? The $30,000 drop for the new, three-level house at 760 N.E. Jessup St., once listed at $729,000, reduces the amount of the down payment and shaves off more than $100 a month in the mortgage payment.

And that's the smallest cut in our examples.
