Showers left over from Thursday’s system could drop a little rain in some isolated areas on Friday morning. The metro area will see heavy cloud cover to start, then some slow clearing for the summer solstice. The high will only be 69.

Measurable precipitation on Friday will mostly fall in the Cascades. Timberline saw about 2 inches of new snow on Thursday. With warming summer temps, it’s unlikely the mountain will see any more new snow, or retain what fell this week, through the summer.

The longest day of the year - summer solstice - started Friday with sunrise at 5:22 a.m. and will end at 9:03 p.m. at sunset.
A weak ridge of high pressure will move in by Friday night as the system that caused the rain on Thursday moves east. This will have Saturday morning starting with some high clouds. The warm summer sun will burn those clouds away quickly and leave mostly sunny skies on Saturday. The high temperature will be 71.
