While more than 70 million Americans get ready to be under heat watches or warnings for the weekend, those of us in the Pacific Northwest could see a few rain showers today and a very moderate high of only 75 in Portland. We will warm up for this weekend, but not anything like they'll see in many parts of the country for Saturday through Monday.

The morning starts out dry with fairly warm temps in the low 60s for most metro locations. A weak front is moving into the coast that will leave rain on the beaches in the morning and bring some light sprinkles into the valleys by the afternoon. The high will be 75. A trailing cold front will continue rain chances into the evening and early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A drier northward flow moves in behind the cold front Thursday afternoon, offering some clearing and cooler overnight temps. Portland should see some afternoon sun and a high of 76.

Friday will be sunny all day -- the first day this week to claim that prize. Temperature will remain moderate with a high of 76. Forecasts show a sunny weekend with highs in the low to mid-80s, nothing like the 100+ temps much of the country will see this weekend.
