Oklahoma football is the favorite to win the Big 12 again over Texas. These are the five biggest reasons the Sooners will take home another conference crown.

It was the 2013 NCAA football season when West Virginia officially joined the Big 12, making it the conference we understand today. Of course, it’s odd the Big 12 is sitting here with 10 members, but that’s the world we live in. Since that day, Oklahoma has pretty much owned the division.

The Oklahoma Sooners have won the conference four straight seasons. Every year, we talk about the team that’s going to take down this team, but it hasn’t happened. No matter the talent that’s come and gone, from Will Grier at WVU to Mason Rudolph at Oklahoma State to Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech. None of them are able to take down the Sooners.

It helps that they’ve had back to back Heisman Trophy winners. They lost Baker Mayfield as the number-one pick in the NFL Draft. Then, the very next season they had Kyler Murray, who might be an even better talent.

This year could theoretically be the year it all goes down. Losing two quarterbacks of Murray and Mayfield’s caliber could set some college teams back years. Not Oklahoma.

This team is going to bounce right back. Thanks to an amazing foundation and great continued coaching, the Sooners will continue to be Big 12 contenders year in and year out. Not only that, they will continue to be National Championship contenders. They’re ranked fourth in the country. That would put them in the College Football Playoff.

But that would be getting ahead of ourselves. We want to focus on the Big 12. This is why the Oklahoma Sooners will end up on top once again.
