Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit set to call Notre Dame-Louisville game for ESPN

Tomorrow marks the start of the college football season with the Miami-Florida game kicking being the main attraction on Saturday. Irish fans will have to wait a little longer, however, as Notre Dame’s first game of the year doesn’t come until a week from Monday, Sept. 2 when the Irish travel to take on Louisville in primetime.

Though kickoff is still a little over a week away, ESPN has announced that its top crew of Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor will be calling the game. For the trio, it will be their third game in a 10-day stretch after calling the Miami-Florida game this Saturday and then the Oregon-Auburn game next Saturday.

If you’re not a Herbstreit fan, fear not, for there are a variety of television viewing options besides the main ESPN broadcast. ESPN will be running a BlimpCast for the Louisville game with Marty Smith and Ryan McGee aboard the Goodyear Blimp giving commentary on the action happening down below. That will be streaming on ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Alternatively, if you have access to the new ACC Network, you can tune in there to see the new ACC Watch Party broadcast featuring former Irish players Jac Collinsworth and Mike Golic Jr. along with Louisville’s Eric Wood for a more informal atmosphere.

Notre Dame and Louisville will kick off on Monday Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
