Sheffield Wednesday returned to the top of the Championship table with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Luton Town at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening.

The Owls have been hugely impressive this season, and don't seem to be impacted by Steve Bruce's departure before the start of this year's league campaign.

It was a summer of change at Sheffield Wednesday, with the 'deadwood' being cleared out, as well as the club signing some new players to strengthen their squad.

One player that has certainly made a good start to life with the Owls is Kadeem Harris, who signed on a free after being released by Cardiff City in the summer.

Harris has scored twice already for Lee Bullen's side, and supporters will be keen to see him build on a number of impressive showings this season.

His pace and trickery going forward make him a defenders' nightmare, and that's already been apparent as he has wasted no time in establishing himself in the starting XI.

But his recent performances have meant that a Sheffield Wednesday fan favourite has had to make do with a place on the substitutes bench for the time being.

Fernando Forestieri has been a key player for the Owls for a number of years now, but is currently being frozen out of the starting XI after the emergence of Harris.

The Italian has had some off-the-field issues to deal with, but it seems as though his days at Hillsborough are numbered, and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him heading for the exit door in the future.

Forestieri has scored 32 goals in three seasons for the Championship side, and is far too good of an option to have sitting on the substitutes bench, especially when he isn't even featuring for Bullen's side.

Competition for places is the ideal dilemma to have as a manager, but it's understandable when players aren't content with their current game time, with Forestieri likely to be far from pleased at this moment in time.

Sheffield Wednesday could be the surprise promotion contenders this season, and will be hoping they can build on an impressive start to the 2019/20 season.

They are next in action against Preston North End this weekend, and it seems highly unlikely that Harris is going to be dropped to the bench anytime soon.

So, Forestieri will have to remain patient for the time being, although Sheffield Wednesday supporters will know that his days are numbered if Harris is to keep up this run of form in front of goal.
