It has been an uninspiring decade for Nottingham Forest, who have struggled to really make any strides forward since their return to the Championship.

The club have longed for a playoff place, and nearly got relegated back to League One in 2016/17, only to survive on the final day.

But with poor owners now gone, it feels like Forest can really strive forward, with this summer transfer window being a place to start.

Last summer saw many new faces enter the door, only a few worked out as planned, others not so well.

Here, we look back on three of their transfer masterstrokes in recent history, ahead of what promises to be a big summer window at the club.

Signing Joe Lolley

£500k. That was the fee Nottingham Forest paid for Joe Lolley, who was by far their best player this season just gone.

Now, it looks like they are set to have to fight to keep him, with big figures being quoted.

Whether he stays or goes, signing Lolley was a masterstroke from Forest.

Signing Michail Antonio

Another gem found for a relatively low price was Michail Antonio, who was one of Forest’s best players in a poor few years for the club.

Since leaving Forest for a big fee, he has gone on to thrive at West Ham, and earn a couple of England call-ups.

Selling Wes Morgan and Patrick Bamford to fund survival

Forest were in a state of free-fall on and off the pitch, looking like they were going to be relegated and plummet.

The sales of Wes Morgan and Patrick Bamford came as a bold decision, but ultimately it helped Forest stay afloat and sign some good players on loan, who ultimately kept them up.
