More than a dozen arrested at Tennessee Capitol, some handcuffed themselves to railing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee State Capitol arrests are made overnight.

At least 16 people are booked this morning and charged with criminal trespassing at the capitol. Other charges included resisting arrest and being under the influence of an intoxicant.

These charges are misdemeanors.

According to the affidavits, the protesters were reportedly given several warned just before 11 p.m. Wednesday that the grounds would be closing. While many left, some handcuffed themselves to a railing at the top of the mezzanine area.

The Capitol grounds are closed from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
