Some areas were blocked off Friday as the Cumberland River nears minor flood stage.

The Cumberland River that runs right along downtown Nashville and through many midstate counties was recorded at 36.36 feet at 6 a.m. Friday. Parts of the river are in "action" stage, but it's expected to reach minor flooding stage with another round of rain.

Flood stage for the Cumberland River is 40 feet, but it's slated to reach 40.5 feet Saturday morning with another round of rain that could bring 2" to 4" of rain. FOX 17 News will be monitoring this situation.

For perspective, this will be the first time the Cumberland River will reach flood stage since the deadly 2010 floods. However, the river will stay well below the 2010 record of 52.55'.
