INDIANAPOLIS — For the fifth day in a row, protesters gathered in downtown Indianapolis to protest police violence and racial injustice.

The protests mirrored those across the country spurred by the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

For the third straight night, Marion County was under a curfew, which began at 9 p.m. Tuesday and ended 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The Tuesday’s protest remained peaceful. It began in the afternoon and ended around 7:30 p.m., when the bulk of protesters went home. Some remained in the city past curfew and marched through downtown.

Police were present to keep the peace. Our crews saw some officers fist bump and shake hands with protesters as they passed.

The protest ended around 10:30 p.m. at University Park. Protesters coordinated rides to help people get home.

Organizers said they planned to protest again Wednesday.
