JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio– The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on I-77 involving one of its troopers Thursday afternoon.

The highway patrol said they were on the scene of a two-car crash on I-77 southbound in Jackson Township when traffic didn’t yield to the stopped patrol car. The trooper’s cruiser was struck by another commercial vehicle; that resulted in a four-car crash.

Multiple people were injured and taken to the hospital. The injuries were non life-threatening, according to the highway patrol.

An area of the interstate between Shuffel and Portage streets was shut down for a time.
