BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Is a comeback in Baltimore's future?

A new study named the city the "best up and coming housing market" in the state of Maryland.

Insurify, a homeowners' insurance comparison company, announced its Best Up & Coming Housing Markets Awards for 2019 today, naming the best city in each state.

Insurify graded cities based on "relative increase in Home Value Index since 2009, Home Value forecasts, and current year-over-year median sales price trends, and from Zillow Research; total building permits issued in 2018 as recorded by the National Association of Home Builders; [and] proportion of homeowners as reported by City-Data.com."

That led them to conclude Baltimore is the best resurgent housing market in the state, meaning Baltimore is among the cities "exemplary in creating communities to which homebuyers are flocking in droves."

Baltimore joins a handful of mid-size/large cities who got the award.

Other "best up & coming housing markets" in their respective states were: San Jose (with about 1 million people), Dallas (1.3 million), Atlanta (about 487,000 people), Charlotte, N.C. (about 860,000 people). Columbus, Ohio (about 879,000) and Nashville (about 691,000).
