Levante are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Vicente Iborra, according to Valencia newspaper Super Deporte.

The La Liga outfit tried to sign the 30-year old back in the summer as well, but Leicester rebuffed their approach for the Spaniard.

Levante, however, have come back in for him and are even prepared to play the waiting game as Leicester recover from the tragic loss of late chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Although the former Sevilla captain is contracted to Leicester till 2021, his desire to return to his hometown club Levante would encourage the club to try and get a deal done in the January transfer window.

After coming through the ranks at Levante, Iborra made his debut for the Granotas in 2007, when the club was in a bit of a turmoil. He went on to make 186 appearances before joining Unai Emery’s Sevilla in 2013.

Safe to say it proved to be a good decision, as he won three consecutive UEFA Europa League titles from 2013/14 to 2015/16 – two of them as captain.

Three European triumphs and 172 appearances later, he bid farewell to the Los Hispalenses for his next chapter: Leicester.

While his time here hasn’t proved as good he would have hoped for it to be, he is a respected figure among the fans for his calm and composed performances in the 32 appearances he has managed. And not just that but also his professionalism.

Now, would he leave a couple months from now? Judging by the six appearances that he has made this season, you’d think that he won’t be too happy and that Claude Puel isn’t a fan – especially because of the age factor. Iborra could be nearing his end.
