An Illinois mother is facing charges in the battery of her 6-month-old son.

Friday, Aurora Police Officers and Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of Fox Pointe Drive. When officers arrived, they found an infant unconscious and not breathing while lying on the family room floor inside a home. The child's mother, 23-year-old Trivea S. Jones, was home alone at the time of the incident. Jones told first responders the infant suddenly stopped breathing.

Officers attempted to revive the infant through CPR until medics arrived to take the infant to a nearby hospital.

Hospital personnel noted that the infant suffered severe trauma, including a fractured skull. The infant was airlifted to a Chicago trauma center where he remains on life support.

The Aurora Police Department says Trivea S. Jones was arrested for aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 years (Class X Felony) and aggravated domestic battery (Class 2 Felony).

As of Monday morning, Jones is in the Kane County Jail.
