EMPD officers arrest five alleged drug dealers in Primrose

The area was targeted in an effort to crack down on drug dealers.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members blitzed the Primrose area in search of drug peddlers last Tuesday morning.

The operation ran from 4am until 10am.

Among the five alleged drug dealers arrested, two were undocumented and their Asylum Seeker Temporary Permits had been tampered with (alteration of dates and wording).

The main objective of the special operation was to crack down on drug dealers and other crimes in the area.

The EMPD DEU members focused on drug houses identified by concerned members of the community.

One of two forged official documents which were confiscated by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit in Primrose last Tuesday.

Stop-and-searches were also conducted.

Two shacks in the Marathon informal settlement were swooped upon by members of the EMPD DEU, between 4.30am and 5.30am.

“The three male occupants, aged between 19 and 31 years old, were allegedly found with 20 sealed syringes and 11 ziplock bags, 45 paper wrapped parcels and one plastic bag (104 grams) of dagga valued at R1 731, as well as R290 in cash,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

While officers were taking the trio to the Primrose Police Station, just before 9am, they stopped and searched two suspicious males, who are both 32 years of age.

The man searched in Rietfontein Road was allegedly found in possession of four ziplock bags of crystal meth, a forged asylum seeker document and one block of Kat valued at R7 500.

Some of the narcotics seized from men in Violet and Rietfontein roads, Primrose by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit last Tuesday.

“The other male suspect was picked up on Violet Road and officers allegedly uncovered a forged asylum seeker document and two ziplock bags of Kat valued at R600, as well as R700 in cash,” said Mokheseng.

Cases of possession of and dealing in illicit substances and forgery were opened against the men at the Primrose Police Station.

They will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
