Bison Women Move Up on Day Two of Summit League Championship

NEWTON, Kan. - The North Dakota State women's golf team cut five strokes off its first round score and moved up a place on Monday at the second round of the 2019 Summit League Women's Golf Championship at Sand Creek Station Golf Course.

NDSU shot a 323 in the second round, as the Bison moved into fifth place after two rounds with a 651 for the two rounds. Denver moved into the team lead after shooting a 301 in the second round, giving the Pioneers a total of 623 over two rounds. South Dakota is eight strokes off the lead.

Taylor McCorkle shot an 83 in the second round, as she is tied for seventh with a 158 for the two rounds. McCorkle had three birdies on the day, including the final two holes of the round. McCorkle is six-strokes off the lead, as Denver's Mary Weinstein shot a 74 in the second round to move into first with a 152 for the two rounds. Maddie Herzog moved up 15 spots after the first round, as her 78 in the second round moved her into a tie for 20th. Herzog has a 164 for the two rounds after a pair of birdies on Monday.

Emma Groom shot an 82 in the second round, as she remained in a tie for 22nd place. Groom has a 165 for the first two rounds. Sierra Bennion is tied for 31st after the opening two rounds with a 167. Bennion shot an 83 in the second round on Monday. Alexis Thomas moved up five spots as she rounded out the Bison lineup with an 80 in the second round. Thomas is tied for 37th with a 169 for the two rounds.

The Bison will tee off at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday for the final round of the tournament.
