Country Artist JT Hodges Stars in New Lifetime Movie Depicting Competitive Music Industry

Published on November 8, 2019

With Thanksgiving quickly around the corner, it’s almost time to deck the halls with bounds of holly and a chimney full of country music. Today, country music artist and storyteller, Justin Hodges, better known as JT Hodges, announced that he will be starring in a new Lifetime film, “Christmas Stars,” and releasing his new Christmas EP “All Through the Night: A Christmas Collection.”

The Lifetime film tells the story of aspiring R&B artist Layla, portrayed by Erica Durance, who crosses paths with amateur songwriter Spence, portrayed by Hodges. While Layla thinks she’s finally found her shot at getting a record deal, the tables turn as the highly competitive nature of the music industry starts to take interest in Spence as the real star—not Layla.

The film, “Christmas Stars,” comes to viewers on December 13 at 8:00 p.m.—hey my birthday! Definitely a film I will be tuning into. What’s even better for JT Hodges fans is that the film will also feature never before heard Christmas tunes from the artist.

As for Hodge’s new EP, “All Through the Night: A Christmas Collection,” it will include the original title track along with Christmas classics, including “Jingle Bells,” “Silent Night,” and “Deck the Halls.”

But the Texas native is no stranger to acting, as his earliest performance dates back to 2013 where he starred in “Finding Christmas” on Lifetime. It was a film that even the New York Times raved was “most notable, though, for the presence of J.T. Hodges, normally a country singer but here an actor. Mr. Hodges, a newcomer to the acting thing, is surprisingly good.” The film is part of the network’s largest holiday movie slate its ever offered as part of Lifetime’s annual “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” programming schedule.

Grit Daily briefly spoke with Hodges about his upcoming role in the Lifetime film and the upcoming November 12 release of his new Christmas EP.

There’s nothing like giving the gift of sharing music with fans on screen and through this new EP,” Hodges told us. “We had a blast shooting ‘Christmas Stars’ with Lifetime, and I’m thrilled viewers across the world will have a chance to hear some of the new music throughout the film. We’ve having so much fun with the sons that we wanted to get it out to the fans this Christmas season.
