In continuing to bring in big tight ends, Florida football has landed Sarasota High School recruit August Drews for 2020.

He stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 220 pounds. That sounds like the size of a Florida football tight end.

Well, it should as the Gators have received a verbal commitment from Sarasota High School tight end August Drews in 2020.

Drews is currently ranked as the No 120 tight end in the country by 247Sports and is the No. 279 prospect in the state of Florida.

He made his announcement on Twitter Wednesday:

"“First off, I would like to thank Christ and my parents, without them none of this would be possible. I would like to thank Coach Hodges, Coach Casper, Coach Wales, Coach Battie and Coach Montgomery for all the help they have given me,” Drews said. “I would like to thank Coach Haskins for the guidance throughout this process. Finally, I would like to thank Coach Murphy, Coach O’Meara and Coach Mullen for this unbelievable opportunity.“With that said, I am excited to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Florida@ #GatorgangXX.”"

Drews chose Florida football over offers from Indiana, Jacksonville State and Ohio State. There was also interest from Colorado, but no offer had been tendered by the Buffaloes.

According to MaxPreps, so far this season, Drews is averaging 14.3 yards per catch and has one touchdown for Sarasota, who is 5-3 overall. He scored his lone touchdown this season in a 75-0 blasting of Titusville in September.

In addition to being a big-bodied tight end, Drews also excels as a long-snapper, as seen here:

Not sure exactly what Florida football has in mind for Drews, but he does have solid hands for a tight end and decent speed. He is the fourth-leading receiver for Sarasota, however, they are a more run-based team — rushing for 1,576 yards compared to 1,115 yards passing.

No. 7 Florida football is off this weekend and will be back in action next Saturday in Jacksonville against No. 10 Georgia.
