Indiana Basketball: Graduate transfer Joey Brunk commits to Indiana

Butler Transfer Joey Brunk has committed to Indiana University as a graduate transfer with two years left of eligibility.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Indiana basketball program got a much needed commitment from a big man.

Announced through twitter, Butler graduate transfer Joey Brunk committed to Indiana.

With two years of eligibility remaining, Brunk’s commitment is a sigh of relief to Indiana fans.

Last season, Brunk averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game for the Butler Bulldogs.

At 6-foot-11 and 229 pounds, he will likely backup De’Ron Davis at center, a position that lacked depth.

Brunk is a huge addition to a team that has been dropping like flies recently. Freshman forward Jake Forrester as well as sophomore forward Clifton Moore are both transferring away from the Hoosiers. With two guys of length leaving the program, as well as Juwan Morgan and Evan Fitzner graduating, Brunk is the size that the Hoosiers will desperately need next year.

Not only is Hoosier Nation ecstatic about Brunk joining the team, McDonald’s All-American Trayce Jackson-Davis is too.

In a tweet posted yesterday, Jackson-Davis was elated for the Hoosiers to have signed Brunk.

Indiana now has two open scholarships available for next season and could have more depending on the decision of Devonté Green, as well as a few other players who may declare for the draft, or recruits to commit.

With De’Ron Davis about to be a senior with no NCAA tournament experience, Brunk’s college experience is a huge boost.

Still in the running for a couple of other recruits, coach Archie Miller hopes to bring in a few more guys like five-star forward Trendon Watford, four-star guard Lester Quinones and three-star guard Jalen Windham.
