Nebraska Football: Ty Robinson is showing tremendous potential

Nebraska Football has  a stud for the future.

Nebraska Football has a very talented class of freshmen. Especially on the defensive side of the ball, they have players that can make an impact not only in the future, but right now as well. One of those players is defensive end Ty Robinson.

Robinson brings a tremendous skill set to the Nebraska Football program. He can rush the passer efficiently, has tremendous explosiveness off the ball, and is able to step up and make plays when needed. He brings another element to this defensive line, one that will be experiencing some turnover in the coming years. Now, it is all about making the most of the opportunities he gets, which for right now are few and far between. As he gets more familiar with the defense and as impact players continue to graduate, he should be able to find playing time.

Robinson recorded 146 tackles and 69 tackles for a loss and 34 games played during his high school career. The talent is undoubtedly there. From all the film I have seen, I can tell that he is an aggressive tackler and an impact playmaker. He is exactly the type of player Nebraska Football needs moving forward. They need someone who is aggressive and not afraid to get in the middle of a play as well as someone who can read and react as soon as a play develops. Chances are, he is only going to get better. That should be able to help him in the long run.

As far as Robinson playing right now is concerned, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander sounds like he wants to see Robinson develop a bit more. As he told Michael Bruntz of 247Sports, Nebraska Football has enough talent on the defensive line to play with. Having depth on the defensive side of the football is important. The defensive end position and defense and general requires a lot of physicality. Robinson certainly can bring that element to the table. Right now, he still has a lot to learn. Even still, the defensive coordinator has indicated Robinson can play right now.

"You got enough where you don’t need to, but you’d like to. He definitely brings some value. Once he continues to get reps and learns how to do things … for those big guys, D-line and O-line is like the hardest ones where you’re saying, ‘Oh, this guy was a great player in high school, let’s get him out there.’ But those big guys in high school, there’s nobody to block them, nobody that can even get close to touching them. Then they get up here and you’ve go to deal with Farniok and Jaimes and those boys, it’s a little bit different.”"

I would love to see Robinson in action as a freshman. That would be great, and it would be a good starting point for him and the coaching staff. That way, they can see what he did correctly and what he needs to work on in real-time. Although he may need to make adjustments to collegiate offensive lines, the talent and explosive skill set is definitely there. I can’t wait to see what he can do. As far as I’m concerned, he can be a top-notch player in just a couple of years.
