Nebraska football is able to add even more depth to the line on Wednesday.

The Nebraska football offensive line was able to gain even more depth on Wednesday, as lineman Nouredin Nouili became immediately eligible to play.

He graduated from Norris High School last year, after being in exchange student from Germany. He picked Colorado State, and made an impact there as a freshman. He played in seven games, but decided to take his talents elsewhere after head coach Mike Bobo was fired.

Now, he is with the Nebraska football program. Only a sophomore, he also still has his redshirt year in hand. He could potentially play only four games this year, therefore still preserving the redshirt.

This development is huge for the Nebraska football offensive line. They have a ton of depth there, but additional depth is never frowned upon in college football. Particularly for an offensive line unit that struggled last year, this depth is certainly very welcome.

The Huskers have 15 lineman in total in addition to Noulili and Ezra Miller, who walked on to the program in June. They certainly have a lot of options to choose from, and that should benefit the program moving forward.

Although he may be looked at as just another depth piece, Nouili could prove to be a helpful piece down the road. When you consider that he has not even used his redshirt yet, that has to count for something. This will lead to an experienced piece on the line in the coming years, and also allow for somebody who knows the offensive playbook to be a part of the roster for multiple years. With turnover high in college football this is important.

I’ll be interested to see where he fits. If there is one area where Nebraska football has not slacked in, it’s been recruiting the offensive line. This is certainly a good sign, as the line is a positional group that has struggled in recent years.

When you think about all of the talented running backs and athletes that Nebraska football has, a good line is going to be essential to make it all work. If they can keep landing talented lineman, all the power to them. At the end of the day, something like a sack or a rush for negative yardage could make the difference between winning and losing.
