Like other artists who are releasing original artworks to benefit justice organizations amid George Floyd protests, James Jean is auctioning off a rare artist proof of his first woodcut print, Pomegranate. All of the proceeds will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

The ukiyo-e style woodcut print depicts a figure surrounded by pomegranate trees in rich blues and reds. The fruit’s oozing juice covers the figure’s body, while seeds pour out of the pomegranates and burst from the plants. Measuring 25.5 by 35.4 centimeters, Pomegranate will be up for auction until 11:59 p.m. PDT today.

Head to James Jean’s Instagram to bid for the piece. The highest bidding price is currently $5,000 USD.

In other news, Salon 94 is holding a new online viewing room featuring portraits by artists of color.
