CraftNOW throughout the month of November will activate Philadelphia in conjunction with the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show. Now in its fifth year, CraftNOW presents the theme Craft Capital to visitors as a means of discovering the resources throughout Philadelphia. The event includes more than 20 exhibitions and the following special events:

CraftMONTH First Friday
November 1

Tour Old City galleries from 5 – 8 pm before joining to celebrate with area curators and artists from 8 – 10 pm for the inaugural Craft Industry Night at Han Dynasty.

The 43rd Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show
November 8 – 10

This premier show and sale of contemporary craft held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center will include 195 of the finest and most dynamic craft artists in the United States, along with 26 guest artists from Israel.

CraftNOW Annual Symposium
November 8, from 12 – 6 pm

The Symposium at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Rhoden Arts Center will provide a platform for critical discourse in contemporary craft. The keynote, Crafting a Moral Compass, will be delivered by Michelle Millar Fisher. The Symposium is free to attend. Registration is required for a networking lunch with the speakers and panelists prior to the start of the Symposium.

CraftNOW Create
November 9, 11 am – 4 pm

Explore free, family-friendly and hands-on activities at the Kimmel Center, including works in clay, wood, textiles and more.

WheatonArts Tour
November 16, 9:30 am – 4 pm

Discover glassworks at the WheatonArts and Cultural Center in Millville, N.J. Julie Courtney will conduct a curator’s tour of Emanation in the Museum of American Glass, followed by a live glass-blowing demonstration, and the final performance by Martha McDonald of Phantom Frequencies, a mini-opera using glass instruments. Craft Forms
December 6, 6 -9 pm

CraftNOW closes out November programming by highlighting the opening reception for Wayne Art Center’s Craft Forms 2019: An International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Craft.
