More of 8th Street is under construction to transform the street and further the "vision of 8th Street as a dynamic destination within Boise’s downtown core."

The Capital City Development Corporation is beginning construction to transform 8th Street between Bannock Street and State Street to make it look more like the 8th street all Boiseans know and love (near Main Street).

The full construction period will last between early August of this year into January of next.

The construction plans will allow for traffic and pedestrian access, according to the Capital City Development Corporation.

This project is an extension of the road construction that happened on 8th and Main – also known as “restaurant row," as first reported by Boise Dev.

The phases will break up construction areas to expedite the process and allow for continued pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Streetscape improvements include:

  • New street trees will be added along Bannock and 8th to add atmosphere and expand the urban tree canopy network.
  • The sidewalk from Bannock to Jefferson will be expanded to accommodate future patio uses and extend the pedestrian network.
  • Protected bike lanes will be added, extending the aesthetic and ease of access to local businesses for cyclists.
  • A dedicated southbound bike lane and northbound shared lane will be added to 8th. These facilities complete the bicycle corridor from the Boise River to the North End.
