Jaipur: 5th edition of the Rajasthan Kabir Yatra will be organized this year from 2-6 October, 2019. RKY is a travelling music festival in which we will journey over 5 days in and around Jaipur & Shekhawati region taking the power of Bhakti and Sufi music and poetry to places recently affected by communal violence. The Yatra seeks to share and radiate the wisdom of Bhakti and Sufi thought with the hope of contributing to peace and harmony in our inner and outer worlds.
This Yatra takes its inspiration from the last four editions of the Rajasthan Kabir Yatra that took place in 2012,2016, 2017 & 2018 and was widely chronicled and appreciated (see a short 30-min video of it here). Organised by Lokayan in partnership with Rajasthan Police, this 5th edition of RKY’19 will bring more than 20 folk artists, over 200 yatris from other parts of India and abroad, together with thousands of local audiences.
The Yatra is a space where musicians, artists, scholars, students and seekers can immerse themselves in the poetry of Bhakti and Sufi saints such as Kabir, Mirabai, Bulleh Shah, Shah Latif, Gorakh Nath and many others. This year artists from Kutch, Malwa, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi will perform along with those from Rajasthan. The event will also share works of painters, sculptors and photographers inspired by the Sufi-Bhakti tradition.
