The BJP winners took out rallies in their respective wards and thanked the voters. BJP MP Natubhai Patel felicitated all the winners by garlanding them. Congress had snatched the power from BJP in the Silvassa District Panchayat elections held in last October 2015. Mohan Delkar of Congress led the poll campaigning. During the last two elections he had fielded his sister Chandanben Delkar and she was also made mayor of Silvassa.

BJP had fielded mayoral candidate Rakesh Chauhan from Ward no 10 and he turned out victorious.

Talking to The Indian Express Rakesh Chauhan said, “We are thankful to the people of Silvassa who had elected majority of the BJP candidates and given us chance to run the municipal corporation. For the last ten years, Congress was ruling the municipal corporation, but they had failed to provide basic facilities like proper road, drinking water, electricity, and drainage, etc. Now, we will try to provide the best facilities to the people of Silvassa. Our Silvassa is also included in the top 100 smart citites list of the Central government. We have our BJP MP Natu Patel with us and we will work together for the development of Silvassa.”

Festive offer

Congress leader Mohan Delkar said, “We accept the decision given by the voters of Silvassa and we will see where we have gone wrong and try to rectify our mistakes so that in future we will perform well.”
