Bangalore News Highlights: As Bangalore rains made a comeback on Thursday, waterlogged roads and underpasses gave a difficult time to residents, motorists, and pedestrians on various areas. Traffic snarls were also reported from key areas in the city causing delay for many to reach back home from work.
According to Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), T Begur in Nelamangala recorded most rainfall during the same time (36.5 mm). Other places that received heavy showers include Shivanakote(20.5 mm), Tavarekere (24.5 mm), Sampangiramanagara(20.5 mm) and Devanahalli (22.5 mm), according to data recorded till 8.30 pm. Rains are in the forecast today as well.
Meanwhile, Bangalore’s renowned Independence Day flower show at the iconic Lalbagh Botanical Garden will be dedicated to the last Maharaja of Mysore, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar.
The 10-day floral show which will be open for public from August 9 to 18 will feature several floral replicas representing Wadiyarās illustrious life and memories, also commemorating the ruler’s birth centenary.

Karnataka Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar has written to all Department Secretaries to put orders given by caretaker Chief Minister Kumaraswamy during July on hold in. The letter mentions that the same is taken as per directions of designated CM B S Yeddyurappa.
According to media reports, the letter also instructs that all transfers sanctioned in July will also be withheld until further orders. All projects taken up during the same timeframe are also withheld until they are reviewed by the next government, reports add.
"I have requested Governor to administer me oath between 6-6:15 p.m as the Chief Minister. The Governor has agreed and given me a letter," Yeddyurappa told reporters after meeting Vala at Raj Bhavan. He said, "who all are to be inducted (in the ministry), I will discuss it with our national president and inform." Yeddyurappa said as he is already Leader of the Opposition, there is no need to call a Legislature Party meeting to elect him the leader. (PTI)
The traffic police have advised people to leave for Raj Bhavan before 4 pm as there might be traffic snarls at the time of the ceremony and finding alternative routes may be difficult. BTP has also requested public to take alternate routes, especially those going to the airport via Vidhana Soudha.
Bettahalasuru station will find a place in the route-map of Bangalore metro's proposed K R Puram-Kempegowda International Airport 2B Line. Part of Namma Metro's Red Line, the station will be between Bagalur Cross and Trumpet Junction on the route.

The life-size flower structure of Mysore’s iconic mantap at the Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Circle is expected to be a major highlight at the show. According to officials of the horticulture department, the main replica will be surrounded by the replicas resembling the Mysore royal throne, the Jambu Savari and the royal court hall of the Mysore palace, all made entirely of flowers.

Explaining the same, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre director G S Sreenivasa Reddy said, "These rains are a result of cyclonic circulations activated in the Bay of Bengal. The situation is likely to continue for a few days."
