Bangalore news August 8 highlights: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Karnataka police recovered 300 kg gold-plated copper biscuits from a residential apartment in Bengaluru belonging to Mohammed Mansoor Khan, founder of the I Monetary Advisory Ltd which is involved in a multi-crore investment scam in Karnataka.
According to SIT officials, the biscuits were hidden near Khan’s swimming pool on the sixth floor of the seven-storey apartment in Richmond Road. An SIT official told Indianexpress.com, “The gold biscuits were hidden by one of the IMA directors, Wasim, as per Mansoor Khan’s instructions. we have arrested Nizamuddin and he is in police custody.”
According to data from the state government, 9 people have lost lives due to floods in north Karnataka so far. While the death toll is most in Belagavi district (six), two people from Uttara Kannada and one from Shivamogga were declared dead as of 1 pm on Thursday.

The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has launched Nandini milk fortified with vitamin A & D. According to KMF, enriched milk is available at no extra cost. Since the Gowri-Ganesha festival is starting from the first week of September, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) directed officials from district and BBMP to ensure that there are no manufacturing or sale of plaster of Paris (PoP) idols. The board urged the public to celebrate the festival with idols made of clay and other eco-friendly material.

The Bengaluru Urban district administration has identified various properties registered in the name of IMA founder Mohammed Mansoor Khan and located in Bengaluru, Hassan, Kolar, Chikkaballapur and Davangere. A total of 23 properties have been seized so far, whose value is estimated at Rs 300 crore, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner K Srinivas said.
The movement of vehicles on Charmadi Ghat (NH-73) has been banned till Thursday midnight following landslides and uprooting of trees due to rain on the stretch.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S said that the work on clearing the stretch is in progress.
The National Highway executive engineer had sought the deputy commissioner to ban movement of vehicles on the stretch for two days to ensure speedy execution of the work.
The vehicles are diverted via Ujire-Dharmasthala-Kokkada-Gundya-Shiradi (NH 75). From Mudigere handpost, the vehicles are diverted to via Jannapura-Aanemahal-Shiradi-Gundya (NH 75).
BBMP to instal 400 more trash bins with sensors in Central Business District. GAIL Gas Limited, a PSU, has donated the steel bins under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative at a cost of Rs 1 crore to BBMP. 600 bins have already been installed on the footpaths of TenderSURE roads and near Metro stations, another 400 equipped with sensors are on the way, said P Murugesan, executive director, Southern Zone, GAIL Gas.
According to GAIL, the sensor will send a message to the BBMP’s solid waste management department when the bin gets full.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao appointed DCP (South) Rohini Katoch Sepat as the nodal officer for Kashmiris living in Bengaluru after meeting a group of Kashmiris on Wednesday and assured them of safety in the wake of Article 370 having been scrapped.
Rao met a 12-member group of the Kashmiri Trade Federation and promised them all help. The group consisted of businessmen, professionals and students.
